Recent county policies may leave RCFEs and ARFs liable to pay for the transportation costs of a deceased resident to the morgue or other body disposition i.e., mortuary or funeral home. This has necessitated a change in facility admission, acceptance or retention procedures and policies as noted below.
This is Mike’s written admission agreement addendum to assist facilities to create an admission policy and procedure related to the passing of a resident who has been abandoned or has no direct responsible family member and the costs and responsibilities of the facility. The addendum addresses a facility’s option to not accept a resident for care who lacks a succession of relatives or who has not legal documents to designate the disposition of resident remains.
